How to get back in shape after the holidays
During the summer holidays, we never pay too much attention to our diets, and now that it is time to return to work and the commitments of everyday life. Here are a few tips to cleanse your body and get back into shape.
The first tip is to follow a healthy diet, adding to it long walks or bike rides and some exercise at home. If you can, walk two or three times a week for about an hour and, if you feel particularly energetic, take the opportunity to go for a run.
Help your body detoxify with raw fruit and vegetables, as they retain their nutrients, but only for the days needed to purify the body as, abusing these foods causes abdominal tension and meteorism. Other great allies are cereals (especially whole grains), oily fish and spices.
Drink lots of water! Drinking at least one and a half litres of water helps eliminate excess waste and toxins. Other liquids that can help you in the purification phase are green tea, grapefruit, apple, blueberry and carrot juices, and finally detox water, prepared by steeping fruit or vegetables in water for 5 or 6 hours.
Limit consumption of white foods such as salt, sugar, milk, flour and margarine, preferring alternatives that are readily available such as Himalayan pink salt, whole cane sugar, unrefined flours and vegetable oils.
Finally, get back into a regular routine; get up early in the morning and allow yourself time to enjoy a relaxed breakfast, walk to work or get off the tram or metro a couple of stops earlier so that you can work out without great sacrifice, eat lunch at the right time and with a healthy meal, have fruit snacks and finally, when you get home, take a shower with music playing in the background, it helps you to relax and take your mind off the day.
