How to get back in shape after the holidays

Christmas is a wonderful time to spend with our loved ones but, without realising it, we eat a lot more and find ourselves feeling bloated and exhausted at the end of the holidays. However, we can follow some simple tips that will help us get back into shape after these days of excess.

Contrary to what one might believe, the exhaustion is due to an excess of water, and this is because if we have had lunch out with friends and relatives, it is possible that the meal consumed was saltier than the one we usually have at home, so by following a balanced diet (i.e. avoiding fatty and sweet foods), we will return to our initial weight within a few days.

Never compensate for days of binge eating with days of fasting as this would tend to disorientate our organism and affect its survival system, rather prefer boiled eggs without the yolk, raw or steamed vegetables without oil and, low-fat yoghurt without sugar.

Finally, to regain the well-being we felt before the holidays, it is recommended to drink plenty of water and herbal teas with digestive properties and to prefer broths and soups. Avoid fried foods, cold cuts, cheese, sweets, refined cereals and saturated fats.

From a cosmetic point of view, a few draining and slimming massages help eliminate the waste accumulated during the festive days.
