Skin health
Knowledge of one's own skin type is important not only to get to know oneself better, but also to know how to choose the most suitable cosmetic products and treatments.
But that is not all. Learning one's skin biotype is also decisive for assessing changes in the skin over the years, thus intervening appropriately in the presence of any physio-pathological changes.
The skin undergoes wide variations over the course of a lifetime and the health of the skin is influenced by lifestyle, climatic conditions and age.
Remember that contact with the external environment, the action of the wind, temperature changes, humidity variations and UV rays from the sun can sometimes visibly alter the natural appearance of the skin.
To determine one's skin type, modern beauty salons use new equipment, such as the smart camera, to assess several characteristics: skin texture, appearance, degree of hydration, amount of sebum present, temperature, skin pH, colour ( phototype ).
Each biotype has different characteristics, so cosmetic products must be carefully selected to improve their appearance as much as possible.
We know our skin:
Oily, impure acne-prone skin
To the eye, oily skin appears shiny, oily, dehydrated. It may have comedones, blackheads or whiteheads, and the complexion is dull and greying.
To the touch, the texture is irregular and rough, often has dilated pores and is prone to redness It is more susceptible to acne, seborrhoeic dermatitis, dandruff and androgenetic alopecia.
Dry skin
To the touch, this type of skin appears rough, inelastic, cracked and unevenly textured. To the eye, dry skin is fragile, thin, flaky and has a pale, dull complexion, and the appearance of excessively dry skin appears unhealthy.
It manifests premature skin ageing phenomena, especially wrinkles. The hydrolipidic content of the stratum corneum is significantly lower than physiological values.
Normal skin
This skin type has a clear, rosy complexion and smooth skin.
From a physiological point of view, it has excellent microcirculation, the right degree of hydration and a balanced drolipid film. It appears bright, transparent and blemish-free.
In a way, it is perfect skin; rather rare in adults, this type of skin is often observed during the pre-pubertal age.
Mixed skin
The peculiarity is that it simultaneously presents characteristics akin to oily and dry skin. In some areas, it appears oily and acne-prone, while in others it is extremely dry and flaky.
The composition of the hydrolipidic film varies in the different areas of the face and is influenced by seasonal changes. Most often, the most critical areas are the nose and forehead, which tend to have blackheads and enlarged pores.
Sensitive skin
It is thin, flaky and easily irritated and is often warm to the touch, sometimes parched. It is more prone to the premature formation of wrinkles and other skin imperfections typical of photoaging.
The often severely impaired skin barrier function makes this skin type highly susceptible to external aggression.
Male skin
Compared to female skin, male skin differs in characteristics.
There is a higher concentration of collagen fibres; the skin is much thicker; the hair system is particularly developed. We find increased sebum production; more dilated pilo-sebaceous follicles and a greater susceptibility to acne.
Men's skin tends to age much faster, and the poor application of creams and beauty products can contribute to damaging the appearance and texture of the skin.
Knowing the health of the skin
THE SMART CAMERA
It is the essential tool that allows a thorough skin check-up in just two minutes.
It makes use of various technologies that allow in-depth analysis of wrinkles, spots, hydration, sebum, pores, keratin and comedones.
Thanks to the support of our Skin Coaches and this technology, all facial treatments are customised to the needs of each individual's skin.
The smart camera is equivalent to a microscope that allows you to see what is in the dermis.
It is used at the check-up stage and thanks to it, the beautician can assess, in different lights' the texture of the skin! whether there is capillary fragility, the level of tissue hydration and finally the extent of blackheads.
Photos are taken to keep track of the customer's history and improvements.
The recommendation of specific treatments is fully customised and aimed at satisfying all skin needs.
